Light pruning (trimming) of small branches of trees can be done any time of year, but a full or extensive pruning should be done in winter. Here’s why… Wound closure is most rapid if it’s done just prior to the time that new shoots emerge, and there are fewer insects and disease spores to infect cuts. A Nightmare On Elm Street
Well, actually we weren't on Elm St., but we did dice, slice, slash, hack and chop a 100 year old dead Elm tree on Halloween. Freddy Krueger would be proud of a job well done. More importantly, the homeowner was pleased to see this giant dead monstrosity removed from their property without a trace of debris left behind. Speaking of debris and in an effort to go green, the entire tree was recycled as wood chips for mulch and for wood burning stoves for the upcoming winter.
